Throwback Thursday: Women Shouldn’t Work Because It Increases Male Suicide?
I had intended to launch the new Throwback Thursday/Thoroughly Modern Thursday feature next week since we just launched Transition Tuesday a few days ago, but I just couldn’t wait after watching this video. So, today is Throwback Thursday, a look back at some of the challenges women have had to overcome in the workplace, and this post is about gender discrimination. (And apologies for posting two videos in a row, but like I said, I just couldn’t wait.)
Please tell me that the people who made this are joking. Seriously? Seriously?
This is the most offensive piece of ignorant and discriminatory BS I have seen in a long time. Seems to me that if men can’t handle women in the workplace without feeling the compelling need to throw themselves through plate glass windows, perhaps they are the ones who shouldn’t be working! What do you think?

Kristen,
I’m sure it is meant as a joke. But that’s not excuse - I don’t think the intention matters at all. The fact that someone put time and effort into spreading such a discriminatory message (jokingly or not) is a clear sign that sexism is still running rampant. Also, I’d like to point out that if this ad was race-based it wouldn’t be funny regardless of the intention. For some reason, it is still okay to poke fun at buisinesswomen. Whoever made this needs to find more positive ways to spend their time. Shame on them.
