President Bush Wants You To Make Business Investments
With a seemingly smart, fiscally-sound move that would stimulate the economy and motivate consumers, the Bush Administration along with the Federal Reserve are meeting to decide whether or not to offer ideas that would help bring the United States out of its recession.
“Tax rebates, credits for business investment and
extensions of unemployment insurance are
among ideas being discussed.”
It seems that there is a lot of scurrying around in an effort to get us to spend, spend, spend. Well, most of don’t need an incentive, but if the administration thinks we’ll benefit from it, well…
The interesting thing that I find is that there will be a tax credit for business investments. A business investment would be anything that you put money into and expect a return on your investment as profits. What I fear most is that people will take the opportunity to just “invest” in any business idea without giving it its full due dilignece and then just write it off as a loss at year’s end. Not wise.
Be careful of the hype that is surrounding the idea of tax credits shrouded in “credits for business investment”. Do your homework, ask questions, research, THINK and then decide.
After all, why do you think we’re in a recession anyway?
