Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ : A Spin

by Bridget Wright on April 18th, 2008

I was somewhat shocked to read this story about two women who killed homeless men for insurance fraud. They would select certain homeless men, take out life insurance policies on them then strategize how to kill them and collect on the policies. Can women who take out exorbitant insurance policies, then kill the insured person, be perceived as business women? Now wait before you have a come-apart, I know murder is illegal and the gain from it is immoral, but stop to think about it just for a minute:

She assesses just how much she wants to receive in an insurance claim.

She then invests a portion of her own money to fund the policy. This can range from a few dollars to several hundred dollars. She doesn’t so much mind the amount because she will get a ROI (return on investment) for her work.

She decides on a target.

She takes action on the target.

She then files a claim to recieve the face amount of the policy.

She receives a check for the amount of the policy or the settlement.

She (possibly) walks away a rich(er) woman.

The cycle begins again.

Now what I’m impressed with is the determination, planning and focus that went into this little project. Don’t think I’m weird or anything, but I just like to find something relevant in any situation that I come across. What’s so morbidly good about this is the way the women strategized to get rich…unfortunately by killing someone. So trust me when I tell you I feel so bad for the family(ies), but I’d say these old girls were rockin’ in the business area.

What do you think?

LOL, Bridget, I think we’re both psychos, because I had the same thought. I was like, “Wow, those are some enterprising old ladies!” I’m not suggesting that this is a good way to make money, but the business model does have its strengths. Aside from the killing people part.

This should put to rest any talk in the fast-growing homicide/insurance scam industry about a glass ceiling. :)

Unfortunately, I’ve had to throw out all my old Helen Reddy CDs because they were giving me nightmares…
“I am woman hear me roar…up behind you in an SUV in a dark alley….”

    Good stuff, BizChicks!
