Geekalicious - Where Are the Technical Females ?
Are you an Internet-savvy female entrepreneur? Do you like taking apart your MAc just to see how it works? What about piddling around with some code and text to see how to build a website? If any of these things appeal to you, you could be a geekette - - a super-technical female who loves everything technical, technically speaking, of course.
I came across this website that lists some of television’s top female-geeks of all time (and they’re beautiful too) who we have come to know in their own areas of expertise. But what I want to know is where are the everyday girl-geeks?
The computer world has long been heralded as a “man’s world” one where very few if any women were found or even allowed. I know, I for one, get (yawn) bored when my husband is trying to help me with a computer issue and is walking me through the steps to help me avoid that problem next time. What? I don’t want to remember anything he’s saying or how to fix it. I just want him to fix it now and make it do something so that it doesn’t happen again. A geekette, I am not.
But, there are some female geeks out there holding down good-paying, high profile jobs. I just wonder, where they are. If you’re one, or if you know of any of them, could you direct them my way? I’d like to interview them, ask them some questions. I’ll try to stay awake until they get here.
