Business Marketing Monday: Buy Lunch For The Person Behind You
Yes, there is a such thing as a free lunch and you’re giving it away!
The first time I tried this, I was quite nervous. I didn’t want that person to think that I was some sort of creepy weirdo, but I did it anyway. I explained to the cashier that I wasn’t some stalker or anything, that I was just trying to market my new business (at the time, I was doing desktop publishing). I asked the cashier to just tell them that I was marketing my services and would sure appreciate their business. The cashier was so impressed, she asked for one of my cards as well and told me that she would pass my information on to her boss. Talk about referral marketing!
When you’re in line at a take-out, pay for the person’s lunch behind you AND leave a business card with the cashier for them to give to the person. ALWAYS a winner. I dare you…give it a try.

Great tip, Bridget.
An added bonus is that it’s almost impossible for the person getting the lunch not to tell the story to a bunch of other people.
Now the only problem is what to do about the fight that breaks out among the people who follow you every time you go out to eat….. :)

I love these “pay it forward” stories. Where will you be eating lunch tomorrow? I’ll follow you. LOL
Seriously, I love this idea! And as Mark said, that person will certainly spread the word.
Take care-
Suzanne
