Business Marketing Monday: Join the Local Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce in most all cities is a great way to drum up business. The opportunity to network with potential buyers AND the competition can be a wonderful source of business. Most all Chamber’s have either a weekly or monthly event where the members get together, network, exchange ideas, business cards and leads. As a member of the Chamber, if you establish yourself as a guru or a go-to person and leader in your industry, you have the potential to become a household name within the networking organization.
I joined my local Chamber of Commerce years ago and got lots of business and business leads from it. I was able to meet my competitors and see where I measured up with them and also able to see (and hear) what it was that customers and clients were looking for in the marketplace. Since I am also a professional speaker, I also got (and welcomed) the opportunity to speak to my business peers and leaders in the community at the luncheons. Most everyone there is there to find new business and leads for their business. Networking, asking questions and sampling products are great ways to get your name exposed and products to potential customers.
If you are interested in finding a Chamber near you, read this first to find what things to look for with a Chamber. For a listing of Chambers nationwide, check out this directory. Finally, check out your local community listings to find a Chamber of Commerce that’s near you. It’s also a good idea to join more than one Chamber, if you can afford it. Many businesspeople do this to widen their network since Chambers have members from so many varied places.
The best of luck to you on this Business Marketing Monday!
