Black Friday, Anti-Consumerism Style
It’s supposed to be the biggest shopping day of the year, and since my business has nothing to do with shopping, I gave myself the day off. But that doesn’t mean I hit the malls. Here’s what I did on Black Friday, instead:
- I continued cleaning up from Thanksgiving which, although I don’t celebrate holidays, somehow managed to be hosted at my house this year. Go figure. Ask my husband.
- I finally got through the enormous pile of STUFF that was sitting in the middle of my office floor. It didn’t start out there, though. It was on my desk, and as I needed desk space, I just kept moving things to the floor. For about 2 weeks. Hence, the pile.
- I foisted my Turkey Day leftovers off onto my also-non-holiday-celebrating friends in the form of an impromptu dinner party before we headed out to the packed movie theater to see Beowulf in 3D.
- I went to bed early.
Total Black Friday expenditures: $20 for a movie ticked, 3D glasses, popcorn, and soda
Total Black Friday buyer’s remorse: ZERO
