A Dream Job

by Bridget Wright on December 19th, 2007

What is your dream job? Have you thought about what it is that you really want to do? For some people, it takes time to find what they really want to do, yet to others it comes naturally. Ten years ago, when I decided to become an entrepreneur full-time, I had challenges finding that “right job”. I wanted to find something that fit my lifestyle, but could also make me a decent amount of money.

Are you the work-at-home type? Can you work unsupervised, alone for long periods of time and without much, if any, human interaction? I didn’t think tI would be the kind either when I was in corporate America, and daily dreaming about being at home. I would envision myself sitting on my deck, sipping tea and watching my bank account fill up. I was young then (very young) and had not fully considered what was involved in working from home. First, I had to decide what it was that I wanted to do! However, if you’re think you’re the type that can work from home successfully, I say go for it! I made this post about working from home and some things to consider when you’re ready to pursue that lifestyle. You will never know until you try.

The one thing, the most important thing, to consider when finding that right job, is to find something that you love. I mean really, really love. Think about the idea of your willingness to do said job through a tough first quarter, fickle clients and 18 hour days. Think about a botttom line that vacillates between black and red and investing in computer software that you have to learn as if you’re a 2nd grader. Don’t forget having to secure the services of an attorney and accountant and perhaps having to float your business expenses with a credit card until that red line turns black permanently. If you can endure all of those things and still want to have an entrepreneur’s work-at-home life with all of the bells and whistles, then your dream job may not be far away.

Keep dreaming.
